The Secret of the Seed

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so." — Genesis 1:11
Little Eli held a tiny, brown seed in his hand. It was as small as a crumb!

"Dad," Eli asked, "is this tiny stone broken? It doesn't move. It doesn't sing. It just sits there!"

His Dad smiled. "It's not a stone, Eli. It's a Promise. Inside that tiny brown shell, God hid a giant sunflower. It's just waiting for a drink of water and a warm bed of soil to wake up."

God's Tiny Packages

Seeds come in all shapes and sizes. Some are big and some are small, but they all carry the miracle of life!

The Big Truth A seed is a tiny "Ark." It keeps life safe until it is time to grow!

The Seed's Backpack

Did you know that every seed travels with a backpack? When God made the seed, He knew it would be hungry when it woke up under the ground. So, He packed it a "lunchbox" full of energy!

Look Closely!
If you split a soaked bean in half, you will see the tiny baby plant (the Embryo) and the big lunchbox (the Endosperm). God takes care of the birds, the flowers, and even the tiny seeds!
Activity: The Pocket Sower

Put a few dry seeds in your pocket today. Every time you feel them, remember that God has put a "seed" of greatness inside of YOU too! You are growing just like the sunflower.
