Unit 2: Strategic Planning

"Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established." — Proverbs 16:3

"Lord, teach me to dream with my eyes open. May my plan reflect Your order, Your generosity, and Your hope for the coming Spring."

Lesson 2.1: The Seed Audit

1. Inventory & Replacement: Perform an audit of your current seed box. List what you have and what you need to order.
Variety Name Status (Have/Need) Date on Packet Action (Order/Save)
2. The Sower's Budget: You have a budget of $50 (or 50 Participation Units). Choose 4 crops from a catalog. Calculate the total cost.

1. ____________ ($_____)   2. ____________ ($_____)
3. ____________ ($_____)   4. ____________ ($_____)
TOTAL: $__________   |   Under Budget? [ ] Yes [ ] No

Creation-CRP: The Repair Bench

The Broken Data: You find a packet of seeds from 5 years ago. It says "Tomatoes," but they look very dry and dusty.

The Fix: Perform a "Germination Test." Put 10 seeds in a damp paper towel in a baggie. If only 2 sprout, the "Power" of the packet is only 20%. Is it wise to trust this packet for your main garden? [ ] Yes [ ] No. A Steward counts the cost of a **Weak Start**.

Lesson 2.2: The Draft of Hope

3. The Next Year Rotation: Sketch your new garden layout for next Spring. Use the rotation principle (move the plants!) and the spacing math you learned in Unit 1.
4. The Generational Vow: Why do we save Heirloom seeds instead of buying new Hybrids every single year? How does this build an inheritance?
