"God setteth the solitary in families..." — Psalm 68:6

Lesson 3.1: Magic Eyes

"Lord, open my eyes to see the patterns of Your creation. Let my mind be swift to recognize the groups You have gathered."
1. Instant Look: Cover the page with a sheet of paper. Slide it down quickly to see one box at a time. Write the number without counting!

2. Draw the Pattern: Draw 3 dots in a line. Now draw 3 dots in a triangle. Which one is easier for your eyes to see as "3"?
Line

3. The Dice Detective: Draw the dots you see on a dice for the numbers below.

FOUR

FIVE

TWO

Math-CRP: The Eye-Anchor Repair

The Rupture: A student tries to count the dots one by one with their finger during a "Magic Eye" flash.

The Fix: "Hands on knees! Your eyes are faster than your fingers. Look for the SHAPE. Is it a box? That's 4! Is it a line? That might be 2 or 3. Trust the picture!"

Try to 'see' this group instantly: ● ● ● ● ●. What shape is it?

Signet Challenge: The Instant Reporter

Task: Have your mentor show you a handful of 1-5 coins for only 2 seconds. Tell them the total instantly.

Verification: Did you get it right 3 times in a row? [ ] Yes [ ] No

Echad Extension: Teaching the Eyes

Mission: Show a younger sibling or a parent 3 fingers very fast. Ask them 'How many?' and tell them they have 'Magic Eyes' when they get it right!

Completed? [ ] Yes

Lesson 3.2: The Ten-Frame Bus

"Lord, thank You for the order of Your house. Help me to organize these numbers so that every one has a place and every seat is known."
1. Fill the Seats: Draw the dots to match the number. Start at the top left!

Number: 7

Number: 4

Number: 9

Number: 6

2. Full Bus: If every seat in the Ten-Frame is full, what is the total?

Answer:

3. Empty Seat Detective: Look at the bus below. How many seats are empty? How many more do we need to make 10?

Empty seats:    8 + = 10

Math-CRP: The Orderly Bus Repair

The Rupture: A student puts dots in random seats (e.g., one in the front, one in the back, one in the middle).

The Fix: "The bus driver says everyone must sit in order! Fill the top row first, then the bottom row. Let's fix this 3."

Signet Challenge: The Table Dispatcher

Task: Set the table for dinner. Imagine each place mat is a 'seat' on the bus. How many people are eating? Count them onto the table.

Verification: "How many empty seats are left at our table?"

Echad Extension: Sharing the Bus

Mission: Show a sibling how a full top row always means '5'. Cover the bottom row and ask them 'How many?'. They will be amazed at how fast you know!

Completed? [ ] Yes

Lesson 3.3: Pairs and Partners

"Lord, You said 'Two are better than one.' Help me to see the pairs in Your world and to understand the strength of a faithful partner."
1. Buddy Rule: Circle pairs of dots. Write if the number is EVEN (everyone has a buddy) or ODD (one is left over).
● ●    ● ●    ●
5 is

3. Body Pairs: Name three things on your body that are EVEN (come in a pair).

Math-CRP: The Partner Repair

The Rupture: A student looks at a pile of 5 and says "Even" just because it's a big number.

The Fix: "Don't guess—prove! Line them up two-by-two. If there is a 'lonely one' left over, it can't be even. Even means fair! Is it fair for one to be alone? No. That makes it ODD."

Prove that 5 is ODD by drawing the buddies: ( ●● ●● ● )

Signet Challenge: The Shoe Shepherd

Task: Go to where your family keeps their shoes. Count the shoes by 2s (in pairs). How many pairs are there?

Verification: "Did every shoe find its partner?" [ ] Yes. "What is the total number of individual shoes?"

Echad Extension: Noah's Parade

Mission: Gather your stuffed animals. Line them up 'Two-by-Two' like they are entering the Ark. If you have an ODD number, find one more toy to make it EVEN!

Completed? [ ] Yes

Lesson 3.4: The Bundle Hug

"Lord, thank You for the strength of the bundle. Help me to gather the scattered ones into families of ten, just as You gather Your children into one body."
1. Gather the Ones: Look at the 10 loose sticks. Circle them to make ONE TEN.
| | | | | | | | | |
2. Place Value Map: How many Tens and how many Ones? Write the number.

Math-CRP: The Illegal Immigrant Repair

The Rupture: A student tries to put a loose stick in the 'Tens House' without bundling it first.

The Fix: "Stop! The Tens House has a strict rule: 'No Loose Ones Allowed!' To live here, you must be in a family of ten. Untie the ten and move it to the Ones, OR bundle the one and move it to the Tens. Fix this mat!"

(Cross out the stick and draw a bundle 📦 in its place)

Signet Challenge: The Silver Harvest

Task: Gather a pile of at least 20 pennies. Make towers of 10 pennies each. How many towers (tens) do you have? How many loose coins (ones)?

Verification: Towers:   Loose:   Total:

Echad Extension: The Master Bundler

Mission: Show a younger sibling how to 'tie the hug' on a bundle of 10 pencils. Tell them 'Now they are a Ten!' and show them how strong they are together.

Completed? [ ] Yes

Lesson 3.5: Making Teens

"Lord, thank You for the 'Ten' that hides inside every 'Teen.' Help me to hear the secret names of these numbers and to write them with honesty."
1. One Ten and More: Write the teen number. (1 Ten + ___ Ones)
10 and 5 make:
10 and 2 make:
10 and 8 make:
10 and 0 make:
10 and 3 make:
10 and 7 make:
10 and 1 make:
10 and 9 make:
2. The Secret Word: Listen to the name and write the 10 that is hiding inside.
"Six-TEEN" has a 10 inside.
"Four-TEEN" has a inside.
"Seven-TEEN" has a inside.
3. Build the Number: Draw 1 bundle and 4 ones. Write the number.

Number:

Math-CRP: The Reversal Repair

The Rupture: A student hears "Four-teen" and writes "41" because they heard the 'four' first.

The Fix: "The Ten is the Leader! The Leader always sits in the first chair (the left). Let's fix it. Put the 1 first for the bundle, then the 4 for the ones. 1... 4. Fourteen."

Fix these reversed numbers:
Seven-teen: 71
Six-teen: 61

Signet Challenge: The Teen Builder

Task: Build 3 different teen numbers using sticks or pennies. Show them to your mentor and say: 'This is ten and ___, which is ___!'

Verification: Mentor check: [ ] Passed

Echad Extension: The Secret Ten

Mission: Explain to a sibling why we call it 'Fourteen' instead of 'Four-Ten'. Tell them the 'Teen' is a secret code for ten!

Completed? [ ] Yes

Unit 3 Summary: Signet Graduation

1. Final Gathering: Look around your room. Find a group of objects (less than 20). Draw them as Tens and Ones.

My group has Tens and Ones. Total:

C.A.M.E. Verification Node: The Truth of Unity

A student has 1 bundle of ten and 3 loose ones. They say: "I have 4 things total."

Is the student telling the Truth? What is the difference between 4 "Ones" and 1 "Ten"? Explain why we write 13 instead of 4. Use the word 'Identity' in your answer.

Verdict:

The Signet Vow of the Gatherer

"I, a young Gatherer of God's families, promise to see the strength in groups. I will honor the Ten, respect the pairs, and never treat a bundle like a loose one. I will bring order to the scattered pieces, for God is a God of order and unity."
