The Scribe's Discernment
13.Does a Ray have an end?
14.Does a Line have a start?
15.How many arrows on a Line Segment?
The Corner Check

Draw two Perpendicular lines. Draw a small square in the corner to show it is a Right Angle.

Lesson 1.5: The Straightedge Discipline

Honesty in Drawing
1.Why do Scribes use a ruler?
[ ] To be slow
[ ] To tell the truth
[ ] To look cool
2.If a line has a wiggle, is it still a "Line"?
[ ] Yes
[ ] No
3.Label this point "HOME". Draw a Ray pointing to "CHURCH".

Instructions for the Scribe: Continue this pattern until you reach 100. Practice identifying shapes, drawing lines, and labeling points. Accuracy is your Honor.

Appendix D: The Scribe's Blueprint Project

Use this page to design a small foundation for a sanctuary. Follow the geometric instructions carefully.

Step 1: The Cornerstone. Mark a single Point in the center of the box. Label it "Cornerstone".

Step 2: The Foundation. Use your straightedge to draw four Line Segments that meet at Perpendicular corners. You should have a perfect square.

Step 3: The Path of Peace. Draw two Parallel Lines leading to the door of your sanctuary.

Step 4: The Ray of Light. Draw three Rays starting inside the sanctuary and pointing out toward the edges of the page.

Appendix B: The Master's Final Audit

Check the boxes only when you have mastered the skill.

Certified by the Mentor

Appendix C: The Litany of the Path

Recite this to close the unit.

Mentor: Scribe, where do we start?

Student: At the Point. It is where I stand.

Mentor: How long is the Truth?

Student: It is a Line. It never ends.

Mentor: What is the shape of your hope?

Student: A Ray. Starting on Earth, pointing to Heaven.

Mentor: Go now, and build a world of straight paths.

Student: Amen. Parallel in Peace, Perpendicular in Praise.
