Appendix D: The Scribe's Tiling Project
Use this page to practice "Tessellation"—the art of fitting shapes together with no gaps.
Step 1: The Square Grid. Draw a row of four squares side-by-side. Make sure their walls touch perfectly. Is there a gap?
Step 2: The Triangle Dance. Draw two triangles that share one side to form a Rhombus. Label the shared side "Unity".
Step 3: The Hive Pattern. Try to draw three Hexagons that meet at a single point in the center. Notice how they share walls!
Step 4: The Imposter Check. Draw a shape that has 4 straight sides but is NOT a polygon. (Hint: Make it 'open'!).
